Douieb is first of the two performers on stage, discussing his other gigs of the day. He’s got some neat lines on doing comedy for kids. Targets include music, Edinburgh people, the rain, Prêt a Manger chains, celebrities, the Austrian paedophile dad, and Welsh road signs. Scientists experimenting on pigs, dull horse racing, and making sports on TV more exciting are all on the agenda, before Douieb draws his half to a close on the troubles of being diabetic, and with final thoughts on the Sesame Street DVD.

He hands the stage over to Grant, who leaps into topics including Edinburgh supermarkets, the differences of Glasgow, underage pregnancies, local dogs and paedophile protests. He has other random gags, like a line on twins, the mother-in-law, and the irritation of charity presents. He has a lovely touch in describing Jesus as self-employed, talks about the air-con, and being a former air traffic controller. He has a tangent on women’s lack of inventions, except Marie Curie, some nice material on his niece’s Valentine’s card, the neighbours, and NHS Scotland. He closes on topics including the mother / child bond, transplant donors, his dead gran, and his brush with crime.

Neither of these stand ups is yet setting the comedy world alight. But their material is good, if sometimes slightly standard comedy club fare. An hour in their company is certainly entertaining, with some good solid laughs.
